Bell for STEPHANIE
“Thinking out loud”, here are a couple thoughts on the installation of the bell. Will continue to mull this over and see if something else comes up.
Have guessed as to proportion of bell in window.
This exercise does point out that you may want a bell with a clapper with a pull cord for ringing. Since this bell had a yoke which swung in a frame, this action would cause the clapper to strike the bell. Without swinging motion, clapper would need to be activated by pulling to strike bell. Unsure if you think it would be cool for guests to ring the bell upon arrival. I could look for a clapper with a hook to attach a pull cord if you’d like. Otherwise, maybe we need to come up with a way for the bell to swing as intended.
Chain mounting
Aged chain wraps through bell’s crown hanger to support bell. Chain could attach to beam with eye hooks. Same concept could be done with aged leather strapping.
lag bolt mounting
Trying to be a little more minimalist/modern/cleaner, this idea would use long lag bolts and large washers painted black to match beam…a gallery-like presentation. Bolts would go all the way through yoke, large washers supporting the wood.
