Very old mini souvenir bell. (Two available.) Made of pressed metal that appears to have originally been a rich brasstone, but has darkened and dulled significantly over the decades. Engraved praying angel handle. Original metallic gold label states: Old Mission San Juan Capistrano, Calif. Lead clapper produces a considerably loud, clear, high pitched ring for such a small bell. Stamped text on top of bell reads: MADE IN GERMANY.
2 1/4 inches tall, 1 1/2 inch diameter.
Bell in strong and sturdy structural condition and great operational condition. Very aged patina to metal. Decal label shows aging and wear. I did not clean the heavy layer of dust and household grime (the grayish layer seen on upward-facing surfaces), fearing damage to label, so will leave that to your discretion; will probably restore beautifully.
I believe this to be extremely rare, as internet searches produce no results. I’d guess this to be from the 1940s-50s.
