Exquisite 100-year-old bronze Mission San Juan Capistrano mini replica bell, of which Mrs. ASC Forbes wrote: “..is of particular interest as it is dedicated to the two priests who were in charge of the building of the grand structure that was destroyed by the earthquake of 1812.” The inscription around the top has been interpreted as “Praise Jesus, San Vicente honoring the resident priests F. Vicente Fuster and San Juan Santiago.”
2 3/4 inches tall, 2 3/8 inch diameter. Excellent, pristine condition with a luscious patina.

Designed and cast by Mrs. A.S.C. Forbes of the Forbes Foundry of Los Angeles, California between 1914 and 1937, this is a replica of one of the bells hanging at the mission. Forbes visited many of the missions and sketched what she could see of the bells hanging in the towers, replicating them in miniature in her foundry.
